Wonderful experience meeting and working with a lovely couple who commissioned "Pembrey", as seen in the image here.

My client kites in this location and the brief was to depict the wide open space with the recognizable silhouette of worms head in the far distance. The tide was to be depicted at sunset. Deep bold reflections; as seen in a previous painting, to be portrayed in warm striking colours.

After visiting the bay, gathering images of my own and researching as much as I could, the panel was made up, and the composition mapped out in textures.

Regular updates and correspondents, including a visit to my studio, and nearing the end - loan of the painting to hang where it was to be, to make sure that all was good, ensured that my clients were more than happy with the outcome.

Finally, now that the painting has been handed over as complete, and my job is done, we will remain in touch, maybe to seal the painting with a resin coat or just a protective matt vanish finish. Neither is a must, but a choice that can be carried out after living with the work for a little while.

Although the commission has reached finality, I always like to leave the door slightly ajar to past clients. I guarantee my work of course. Also the process of commissioning such a bespoke piece of work leads; more often than not, to a friendship. Its always nice to maintain a contact, keeping clients up to date with works, exhibitions and events, and to hear how they are enjoying living with their commissioned work.

It is such a privilege to have my work hung in someone’s home. I love the process of a commission, the relationships that evolve is inevitable as communication throughout the process is part of the practise. In this case getting to know a fellow empath - realized when we looked together at the Big Panda and Tiny Dragon book and cards in Tides Fine Art Gallery . The illustrations and warm words of comfort and wisdom we both related too, and later this resulted in commissioning this very personal bespoke painting.

Two further commissions are now on the horizon. One to be started in October and the other one we are at the early stages of deciding on actual size and palette.

In the meantime I am also working on several small panels and one medium size, these will be released to galleries over the next couple of weeks or so.
